South Street Brewery Anastasia Chocolate Fantasy

Is it a drink? Is it a dessert? Regardless, it's delicious.

Whoa, a chocolate Russian Imperial Stout.

I picked up a bottle of this 25.4 ounce bottle from Total Wine. I hadn’t tried any of this brewery’s beers, which is astonishing seeing as it has been operating since 1998.

This lovely Virginia brew weighs is a hefty 10.52% alcohol by volume, and is made with roast barley, extra dark crystal malt, choclate malt, oats, and cacao nibs. It is a big beer, but it is not one of these brews that blows out your palate. This is a brew you want to serve cool not cold, and give it a few minutes to breathe before you sip it.

Well done, South Street. And I hope I can find time soon to visit your brewey, bar, and eatery in Charlottesville.
