Who am I?
I’m Kevin R. Kosar, and I have been writing about beverages, books, and other things since the mid-1990s.
I founded AlcoholReviews.com in 1998, and wrote Moonshine: A Global History (Reaktion Books) and Whiskey: A Global History (Reaktion Books). I’ve contributed to to the Oxford Encyclopedia of Food and Drink in America.
Crazily enough, I appeared in the Johnnie Walker documentary, The Man Who Walked Around the World and also established the alcohol policy program at a Washington, DC think-tank (2015-2019).
But drinks are not the only thing I think about.
I’ve edited and written books on American government, and written on history and politics. I also am a hopeless bibliophile and really enjoy fishing and being outdoors.
My reviews and essays have appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, The Atlantic, The American Spectator, National Review, USAToday, and assorted other outlets. If you are interested in Congress and elections, check out my other Substack and this other site of mine.
